Sondheim! The Birthday Concert DVD to Get November 16 Release

Sondheim! The Birthday Concert will be released on DVD and Blu-Ray by Image Entertainment on November 16. As previously reported, the special will be broadcast nationwide by PBS as part of its Great Performances series on November 24.

The Birthday Concert was filmed live during the performances of the New York Philharmonic’s Sondheim: The Birthday Concert on March 15-16. David Hyde Pierce hosted the performances. Paul Gemignani conducted, with direction by Lonny Price and choreography by Josh Rhodes.

Among the performances that will be included on the DVD and Blu-Ray release are: Marin Mazzie and Jason Danieley’s “We’re Gonna Be Alright;” Victoria Clark’s “Don’t Laugh;” “Johanna” performed by Nathan Gunn; John McMartin’s “The Road You Didn’t Take;” “Finishing the Hat” performed by Mandy Patinkin; “Move On” sung by Patinkin and Bernadette Peters; “Ladies Who Lunch” delivered by Patti LuPone; Mazzie’s “Losing My Mind;” “The Glamorous Life” sung by Audra McDonald; “Leave You” delivered by Donna Murphy; and “I’m Still Here” performed by Elaine Stritch.
